When I Become a Mom πŸ’›

When that Song
Comes On,
Of heartbreak and wrong
I’ll tell her about you…

You’re the one
I’ll tell my daughter about
when her heart’s broken
and filled with doubt.
When all she hears are lies
from the one person
she fell for,
without any sense of pride.
When she asks
if I think he ever loved her…
When she thinks
she’s found the best she can…

& he shatters her dreams
with her own words,
with her own innocence
of never knowing,
anybody can.

She’ll know
that her mom once felt the same way,
Ill remind her…
Even the world will tell her
“there are a ton of these guys”
& At times sadly it will
feel like there are…
But don’t let what they’ve said change you into something your not.

Of course,
She may not believe me
at that moment
But she’ll learn a lot,
because he’ll be the one who helped change who She was
into who She will be
in the worst possible way
a man knows how.

You’ll be the one
I’ll be on the look out for
When a boy comes knocking
on my daughter’s door.
