The Reflective ‘i’ in Wondering

What am I?
Who will I be?
What am I doing?
Who will I see?

When Nothing interrupts.

The noises brought back memories
Oddly enough
I saw my wedding day, my future kids, house,
memories of young and old.

My mom baking, smiling,
owning a home.
My boyfriend proposing.
My worries, gone.

Moments of fear
entrapped my body’s minor twitches;
the IV, tubes, pumped blue ink.

Oddly enough
not a single negative thought ran through my mind.

Sitting there, getting an MRI.
