Only she gave him Goosebumps

A blue sky,

faded clouds decorate its edges.

Pine trees puncture,
reaching for the limits.
Much like us, they’re
always reaching.
The porch
underneath him
warmed his exposed skin.
His heart ached,
that invisible ache.
The breeze smelled of her,
his hand missed hers;
She’d never be there,
no matter how far
his eyes reached towards heaven.
