So Decided, and so, She Did

She let go of what she couldn’t change.

The wind brought words,

spoken by new languages,

in whispers only her heart could hear.

Once noisy footsteps of gravel and rock

treaded through paths she memorized,

she knew so well.

Now those same feet left soft, 

still, determined steps

no one could stop. 

My footprints are still there,

as are our memories.

Time changes,

as do people

and that’s
