Every Touch, Even Metaphorical, Matters

Our thorns are rarely thought of

as beautiful.

We focus on the need

to protect

from the pain they can inflict.

What do others think of your thorns?

What does that say

about the people who want to be invited in?

There is some sense of peace

when a gentle touch

meets a jagged, pointed needle,

no matter the medium.

Both bleed, both break

even a little.

Something grows, even if it is trivial.
